What do the colors of the race flags mean?

Green 

• Starts a race, practice session, or qualifying attempt

• Indicates normal racing conditions

Yellow

• Indicates a caution, such as a crash, debris, or other issue 

• Drivers should proceed with caution and not pass other cars 

Red 

• Indicates that the race must stop immediately

• This could be due to an accident, weather, or other unsafe conditions

Black

• Indicates that a driver should go to the pits and consult with officials 

• This could be due to a significant issue, such as a serious accident 

• A driver receiving a black flag could be disqualified 

White

• Indicates that there is one lap remaining in a race or qualifying attempt 

• It can also indicate that an ambulance or other official vehicle is on the track 

Checkered

• Indicates the end of a race, practice session, or qualifying attempt 

• The driver who reaches this flag first wins the race 

Blue

• Indicates that a faster car is trying to pass 

• It can also indicate that a driver should let a faster car overtake
